Anderson TBA Building Collapses -No One Hurt
A building constructed in 1840 at the corner of Locust and Calhoun collapsed shortly before 4:30 Wednesday evening. Chillicothe Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene, where a portion of the north wall of the building belonging to Anderson TBA had collapsed. A couple hours later the roof of the building collapsed, and the south wall began to bow out.
Chillicothe Police roped off the area around the building. They report there were no injuries resulting from the collapse.
After an evaluation of the stability of the remaining portion of the building, demolition crews were brought in to tear down the remainder of the building along Calhoun. The Chillicothe Fire Department was on hand to help with controlling dust during the demolition and were on the scene until about 11:30.
City Codes Officer Tammi Venneman says the best they can tell, the collapse is likely the result of structural deterioration.
