Five Injured In Three Accident – One with serious injuries
A Marceline woman had serious injuries when she fell asleep while driving Tuesday morning. Thirty-five year old Melanie Metcalf of Marceline was taken to Pershing Memorial Hospital following the accident at 8:35 am on Missouri Highway 5, four miles south of Marceline. According to the report, Metcalf was southbound when she fell asleep and ran off the right side of the road, hit the ground and a fence. She was NOT wearing a safety belt.
State Troopers report four were injured in two single vehicle accidents overnight.
At about 10:30 pm in Sullivan County, a husband and wife were injured while riding a motorcycle and they hit a dog. The Highway Patrol reports 20 year old Samuel Eller of Milan was westbound on Route E, west of Milan, when he hit the dog in the roadway and his bike overturned and he and his passenger, 22 year old Ashlin Eller, were thrown from the bike and were taken to Sullivan County Memorial Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. They were wearing helmets.
At about 12:15 am in Linn County, two were injured while riding an ATV. Thirty-four year old Angelee Piljerton of Las Vegas, NV had minor injuries and her passenger, 46 year old Gina McCormick of Nixa had moderate injuries, in the accident that happened when Pilgerton was eastbound on Route O at Line Street in Browning and she drove off the road and attempted to make it back in the road and struck the ditch. Pilgerton was thrown from the ATV, which then overturned on top of the passenger. Pilgerton was treated at the scene, McCormick was taken to Sullivan County Memorial Hospital for treatment.
