Chillicothe Celebrating 90 Years As Home Of Sliced Bread

Saturday is Missouri Sliced Bread Day, as Chillicothe celebrates the 90th year since sliced bread was first sold in a retail business.  That took place at the Chillicothe Bakery run by Frank Bench.  To celebrate, Chillicothe has several activities lined up throughout the day Saturday.  They include:

6:00am – French Toast Breakfast at the North Missouri Center For Youth & Families

8:00am – 5K Color Walk/Run at the Grand River Area Family YMCA

8:00-12:00am – Chillicothe Farmers Market

8:30-11:30am – Open Mic Event at Silver Moon Plaza

10:00am – Downtown Parade  from Calhoun to Clay Streets

10:00am-3:00pm – Programs by preservationist Bob Yapp at the Livingston County Library

11:00am-4:00pm – Antique Flea Market At the Museum

11:00am – Kids Art Activities at Cultural Corner-Art Guild & Gallery

2:00pm – Bread Contest at the Grand River Historical Museum

3:00pm – Sliced Bread Jam Bluegrass Festival at the Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center

5:05pm – Chillicothe Mudcats game at Shaffer Park

5:00pm-Dark – Freedom Festival & Fireworks at Simpson Park
