The 2020 Census Means Changes Likely For Chillicothe

Darin Chappell

When the 2020 census takes place, it is likely Chillicothe will no longer qualify to continue as the current Special Charter City form of government.  City Administrator Darin Chappell says topping the 10,000 population figure triggers the change.

Chappell says that would require some changes at city hall that would be rather expensive.

When it comes time for elections, we may find it difficult to find enough candidates to fill all of the alderman positions.

He says the city will have a couple of other options.

Chappell will talk more about the Home Rule and what that means starting Wednesday afternoon.
