Extreme Drought Noticeable in Many Fields

Lack of substantial rainfall is showing on crops around Livingston County, but the local Farm Service Agency Executive Director Jeanette Straker says some parts of the county are faring better than others.

Straker says the effect of the drought is obvious in some fields.

The estimates of how short we are on the rainfall varies from 8-16 inches, but Straker says with the right kid of rain, some crops, primarily soybeans, still have a chance.

Rain chances begin this evening and continue into the early part of next week, but rainfall estimates for Chillicothe are well short of what could make a difference, with only about ¾ of an inch in the forecast.
