Chillicothe Joins HGAC To Begin Fire Truck Purchase
The City of Chillicothe has joined the Houston – Galveston Area Council as they begin the process of purchasing a new fire truck for the city. Fire Chief Darrell Wright told the City Council they are looking to replace one of the department’s pumpers and the HGAC will allow them to do this in a cost-effective manner. City Administrator Darin Chappell says this is a purchasing group that meets the governments requirements for bidding.
Chappell says there is a cost for membership in HGAC, but it is less than the cost for the city to hire an engineer and spec out the entire truck and review all of the bids.
Chappell says the Fire Chief has been working on the specs of the truck for some time.
The City Council approved the membership application in their meeting Monday.
