Renovation Underway For Grand River YMCA Pool Area

The Grand River Area Family YMCA is in the process of renovating their aquatics area.  The work began on June 29th, causing the area’s shutdown. Completion is expected by the first of October.  The renovation is projected to cost just over a half million dollars and will include: sandblasting and painting the pool, pool deck, and hot tub; adding a new filtration and UV disinfecting system; replacing the chemical feeding system; updating the electrical system and panel and installing new pumps and heaters for both the pool and hot tub.

The YMCA’s pool was built 26 years ago and they have added several layers of paint over the years, which are in the process of being removed.

YMCA Director Matt Jones says they are excited to have the work done and cannot wait to have a fully refurbished pool so they can better serve the members.

Jones says these improvements will enhance the look and completely transform the function of the pool ensuring that they are able to continue providing the members with a clean, safe pool and an optimal overall YMCA experience for many years to come.
