In preparation for the move of the AME Church next Tuesday, from the current site at Violet and Henry, to the new location adjacent to the Grand River Historical Society Museum, the moving contractor has removed the steeple. On the building, the steeple sits atop the entry to the building.
The steeple will be moved with the rest of the building on Tuesday.
The public is encouraged to watch the move down Washington Street Tuesday morning. The expected move time is about 10:00 am and should take 15 to 30 minutes to go from Curtis Street, north to the HyVee parking lot, where it will begin moving to the west towards it’s final location.
Prior to the move, the roof will be removed from the building and they will also remove the front entry.
