CHS Softball Takes Second at Lexington

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets Softball team finished second in Saturday’s Lexington Tournament.
Chillicothe beat Carrollton 6-4 in the first game thanks to a three-runs second inning to take the lead for good.
Cameron was victim number two with a 7-3 Chillicothe win in five innings. The Lady Hornets big inning was a four run fifth inning.
The Lady Hornets beat Lexington in the third game, overcoming a 4-0 deficit after the first inning with their own four run inning in the third, then one in the fifth and seventh innings.
In the Championship game Chillicothe lost to Holden 5-4 in extra innings.
Extra innings in High School begin with a runner placed on second base. Chillicothe was up to bat first and put Abby Jones on second, Jones stole third and scored on an error on Holden’s third baseman. They failed to score again in the eighth inning.
Holden in the bottom of the eighth started with their player on second, then had a single and a walk. A single to Right Field scored two for the win 5-4.
In the statistics, Molly Ellis was the winning pitcher in the first and third games with Halle Rucker winning the second game.
At the plate Abby Jones went 7 of 14 with a home run and double, six RBI and five runs scored. Mica Hibner was 7 of 15 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Lexi Walker was five of 13 with two doubles and a run scored and Jordan Hibner was 5 of 15 with a triple and double, three RBI and four runs scored. Sophia Luetticke had a triple and double, Lexi Walker had two doubles and Kiley Kirkpatrick and Dawsyn Lightner also had doubles.
