The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department investigated a scam, where someone attempted to get a senior citizen’s personal information.
Sheriff Steve Cox says the local senior citizen had been contacted by a scammer about their checking account. The scammer worked at trying to confuse the person to obtain some personal information and the numbers located on the bottom of the victim’s checks.
Cox says fortunately, the victim was not out any money and has alerted their bank. Additional information was shared with the victim and family on securing their identity.
