Chillicothe High School’s Hornets and Lady Hornets Cross Country teams were honored at their annual banquet Thursday Night. It was bittersweet for Head Coach Tim Riekena, who is retiring after serving 12 years as the head coach.
Riekena reflects on his final season as Coach.
Awards handed out included All Conference Honors to Hayden Simmer and Kadence Shipers. Most Improved Awards to the Boy and Girl Runners that showed the most improvement from last year to this year on the same course went to Mayanna Weed and Eric Kleinschmidt.
Also honored were runners who in the off season ran 200, 300, 400 or 500 miles.
The only 500 miles club member was Logan Asher. 300 miles club members were Kadence Shipers and Hayden Simmer and 200 miles club members are Katheryn George, Emery Evans, Nathan Toole and Callaway Chapman.
The team will graduate just two seniors, both male, and their 4 years student manager.
