Hornets Boys Basketball Wins MEC Opener

The Chillicothe Hornets had a 13-0 run in the second half to beat Bishop LeBlond 53-37 in the MEC Boys Basketball season opening game.
LeBlond led by three points two times early in the first quarter. Chillicothe had a 14 point lead late in the second quarter only to lead by one in the third. The team went on a 13-0 run and led the rest of the game.
Hornets Coach Tim Cool thought his team played a solid game on defense.

Unofficially, Chillicothe was led by Westley Brandsgaard with 16 points, CJ Pfaff and Hayden Simmer each had 11 points. Peyton Forck had eight and Mason Baxter with seven. Also seeing playing time were Bradley Riley, Matt Anthony, Eli Cross, William Perry and Hunter Swift.

In the Junior Varsity game, LeBlond won 43-40 in overtime. Dalton Ripley and Eli Cross both had nine points, Hunter Rader and Carter Allen both had eight points and Landon Swift scored six.

In the C-team game composed of freshmen and underclassmen, LeBlond won 47-42. Demarcus Kelow led Chillicothe with 12, Chace Corbin and Tucker Burtch each with eight, Quentin Cranmer with seven, Seth Hansen with four and Spencer Shira with three points.
