The Kearney Lady Bulldogs had too many weapons on offense and defense for Chillicothe in the Kearney Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs beat Chillicothe 49-31 to repeat as Kearney Tournament Champions.
The teams traded baskets early in the game but after that it was all Kearney, with hot shooting from the floor and a strong zone defense that kept Chillicothe at bay. Kearney led by double figures the entire second half.
Coach Darren Smith said his girls battled hard against a tough team on the road.
Chillicothe was led by Kennedie Kieffer with 11 points, Hunter Keithley with 10, Lucy Reeter with five, Maggie Pfaff with three and Magy Thomas and Jordan Hibner each with one point.
Receiving playing time for Chillicothe were Haley Kidd, Essie Hicks, Catey Trout and Laney Gaston.
Kearney had three players in double figures. Chillicothe falls to 11-3 and hosts St Pius X in MEC play on Tuesday.
