Hornet Wrestlers Have Tough First Day at State
The Chillicothe Hornet Wrestlers had a difficult first day of the MSHSAA Wrestling Championship. The Hornets sent ten wrestlers to the tournament and six already are finished in the tournament.
Advancing to the quarterfinals were 132 Colten Sewell with a win by pin in 1:17 and 138 Lavery Jones who won by disqualification after his wrestler with a 34-4 record failed to make weight.
Losing their first round but winning on the consolation side were 120 Connor Keithley who lost 3-0 in the first round but won by pin in 4:10 on the consolation side. 220 Matt Callen lost in the first round 5-1 but had a rare “bye” in the consolation side to advance.
Others that lost two straight matches and are done are 106 Sheldon Rader who lost twice by pin, 113 Aidan Zimmerman who lost twice by pin. 152 Dawson Wheeler who lost twice by pin. 182 Donald McCracken lost twice by pin, 195 Isaih Kille lost twice by pin and 285 Keegan Valdez who lost twice by pin.
