A rivalry between towns that dates back nearly 100 years in multiple sports heats up again tonight. The unbeaten Trenton Lady Bulldogs will take on #2 Chillicothe Lady Hornets at 5:30 this evening for the Class 3 District 14 Basketball Championship in Higginsville.
Trenton is 23-0 and beat Chillicothe earlier this season 60-50. Lady Hornets Coach Darren Smith said in that game, Chillicothe was with in one point in the fourth quarter.
Trenton has won the last two meetings between the two schools and is led by a talented and experienced group of Seniors. They were the champions of the Grand River Conference this season.
The December meeting with Chillicothe was the closest game of the season for Trenton, which averages 64 points per game.
With their semi-final win over Lexington, Chillicothe has their fourth 20 wins season in the last five years.
