Two Deputies Take Training For Addressing Senior Issues

Two members of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department recently attended training in St. Joseph.  Deputy Terry Wilson and Deputy Jordan Williams attended the training provided by the Division of Senior and Disability Services. (DSDS)

Law Enforcement interacted with the trainers regarding abuse and neglect problems experienced by senior citizens and those with disabilities. Training included information on investigations, interviews, evidence and referrals.   They also learned how DSDS can benefit and help the senior citizens and disabled in Missouri and help law enforcement provide a more complete service.

The training also touched on Alzheimer’s and Financial Exploitation of the Elderly.

Sheriff Steve Cox reminds everyone they should call if they suspect abuse.  The DSDS Abuse/Neglect hotline number is 1-800-392-0210 and the 24/7 helpline for Alzheimer’s is 1-866-403-3073.
