Easter Eggs Come From Pagan Traditions

This Sunday is Easter Sunday, a time the area churches will celebrate the risen Christ.  A tradition for many is the coloring and hiding of Easter Eggs, but why eggs?  Livingston County Library Director Candy Warren says Easter Eggs were borrowed from pagan festivals.

Warren says placing the eggs in the Easter Basket comes from the ancient Catholic tradition of taking the foods for Easter Dinner to Mass to be blessed.

Whatever your traditions, We wish you a very happy Easter.
