New Schedule & Detour On West Locust Creek Bridge Replacement

05-07-19  West Locust Creek Bridge

The West Locust Creek Bridge on Highway 6 in Sullivan County will close again next Monday.

The Bridge, west of Route 5 near Humphreys, was reopened a day after the original closing for replacement due to possible flooding on the detour route.  MoDOT had found a safer route and the contractors from Boone Construction Company plan to reclose the bridge on Monday, May 13, to begin the bridge replacement project.

The new local detour will direct motorists south from Humphreys, on Route 139, east on Route MM to Browning and north on Route 5.

Truck traffic will continue to be detoured from the east near Kirksville on US 63, south to US 36 west.  And from the west near Trenton, south on US 65 to US 36 east.

The delays in the bridge replacement will also delay the start of replacing the project West Yellow Creek Bridge.  A new start date will be announced.
