Chillicothe Senior Tennis player Tyler Maasdam is headed for the State Tennis Singles Tournament. Maasdam won his sectional match that is sending him to the state tournament.
Maasdam beat Mason Walk of Maryville for the fourth time of the season. Maasdam had to battle back in the first set.
Coach Robert Long stated Walk jumped out to an early 5-2 lead. Maasdam won the next four games forcing a tie-breaker which he won 7-2. In the second set, Maasdam broke out to a 4-0 lead. Walk battled back to with in one game but Maasdam won 6-4 to improve to 19-9 on the season.
Trenton’s Gabe Swann won his singles match and Trenton doubles team of Nick Shields and Creed Houghton also qualified for state, along with Savannah’s Tage Young and Christopher Rudel.
