Chillicothe Elks Flag Day Celebration

A local celebration Flag Day will be Friday at 9:00am. Brett Romeiser with the Chillicothe Elks Lodge 656 invites all County and City offices, Departments, Employees, Veterans and the Public to attend the ceremony at 9:00am Friday on the south steps of the Livingston County Courthouse.
The event will last around 10 minutes and include the display and a reading of the history of the flag.
Flag day is held every June 14th to commemorate the adoption of the Flag of the United States on June 14th 1777. The idea of flag day began with a teacher in a small Wisconsin town in 1885. A decree was signed by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916.
