Wright Retiring – Reeter To Lead Fire Department

Chillicothe’s Fire Chief, Darrell Wright,who has been on medical leave this summer and Assistant Chief Eric Reeter has been the Interim Chief to handle those duties.  During Monday’s City Council executive session, Chief Wright’s retirement date of September 15th was accepted and the council voted to hire Eric Reeter as the new Chief.  Chief Wright says he has been with the department for 35 years, working up to Chief after the death of Joe Rinehart in 2010.  He says what he will miss most is the people.

Wright says they department has done quite a bit since he became chief.

Chief Wright made the recommendation the city hire Assistant Chief Eric Reeter to lead the department, and they agreed unanimously.  Reeter says he has been preparing for this.

Reeter says his first day as Chillicothe Fire Chief will be September 16th.
