Deadline To Apply For FEMA/SBA Assistance Is Monday

The Federal Emergency Management Agency or FEMA has a deadline of September 9th for applications for assistance.

Homeowners, renters and business owners who sustained losses or damage in the April 29th – July 5th storms and flooding still have until next Monday to apply for disaster assistance.  September 9th is the deadline to register for disaster assistance from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

After registering with FEMA, most residents are automatically referred to SBA to apply for a low-interest disaster loan. SBA’s disaster loans are the largest source of long-term federal disaster recovery funds for residents, businesses of all sizes and private nonprofit organizations.

Missouri counties in the local area that are designated for FEMA Individual Assistance are Carroll, Chariton, and Livingston counties.

Area residents and businesses wanting to apply for assistance can apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov or they can call toll free at 800-621-FEMA (3362).  Lines are open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
