Deputies Handle Disturbance On Highway 190

Deputies at the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of a man in the middle of Highway 190 Tuesday, acting very strange, screaming, yelling and stopping or hindering traffic.

Two deputies arrived and reported the person attempted to flee from them but was quickly stopped.  According to the report, a deputy arrested the suspect, 33-year-old Derek Matthew Sym, who then allegedly resisted arrest and was placed on the ground and eventually restrained.  Sym was later charged with alleged Peace Disturbance and Resisting Arrest.

Sheriff Cox says his staff had apparently dealt with the suspect the previous day at a different location but nothing criminal had taken place.
