Brunswick Railroad Bridge Destroyed By Debris

The Norfolk and Southern Railroad bridge over the Grand River at Brunswick was washed out just before 7:00 pm Tuesday.  KOMU of Columbia reports the railroad sent out a service alert for the bridge Tuesday, saying “train service has been suspended between Moberly and Kansas City, Missouri, due to debris (caused by heavy rains).”

The Railroad had employees on-site and at 7:00 pm, they cut the rails on both sides of the bridge and in less than five minutes, the bridge was gone.

A video shows the pressure the debris put on that bridge and eventually took out three spans of the structure.

Norfolk and Southern told customers to expect a two to three-day delay on items shipped on that line.
