The Chillicothe Lady Hornets Tennis team won the District Team Championship for the 15th time in program history. It is their first title since 2015.
The Lady Hornets beat Trenton 5-2 for the district title. In post season, once a team gets five individual match wins, play stops and the contest is over.
Chillicothe started with doubles wins by Hunter Keithley and Hannah Zimmerman 8-1, and Macy Cavanah and Delaney May 8-3.
Trenton won the third doubles over Megan Sisson and Leah Lourenco 6-8.
In singles play, Keithley won 6-4, 6-0, Cavanah won -3, 6-0, Zimmerman won 7-6, 6-4, Delaney May was leading when the match was over, Megan Sisson lost 2-6, 5-7 and Leah Lourenco was leading 6-4, 6-6 when play was stopped.
Individual player District singles and doubles are today (Saturday) at Pembroke High School at 9:00am.
