High School Students Learning Hospitality and Tourism

A fairly new GRTS program has been very successful for the students and the school.  The program began after hearing from the school’s advisory committees that there was a need.  Hospitality and Tourism Management is offered at Grand River Technical School for High School Students.  Janice Shaffer is the instructor for the program and says students are trained to work in a variety of fields.

Shaffer says the program builds leaders.  She says Tamera Tropf is a good example.

High School students from the area sending schools can take the class beginning in their Junior years and when they graduate will have two years of classroom and 100 hours of internship, preparing them to move on to college or go directly into industry.
