Winter Weather Resulted In Five Injury Accidents In The Area

Winter Weather brought slick road conditions and several accidents in the area counties over the weekend.

Sunday at 9:00 am in Caldwell County, 47-year-old Larry Burlingame of Falls City Nebraska had minor injuries in a single-vehicle accident on US 36 near Breckenridge.  He was taken to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.

Sunday at 1:30 pm two had minor injuries in an accident in Sullivan County.  22-year-old Jose Torres Marquina of Milan was southbound on Highway 5 and slid off the road.  He and his passenger, 19-year-old Veronica Esparza of Milan had minor injuries and were treated at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital.

In Daviess County at about 1:35 pm, an accident on Interstate 35 left two with minor injuries.  18-year-old Josue Chigwira of Des Moines was southbound and ran off the road near Pattonsburg and hit a tree.  He was not injured, but two passengers had minor injuries and were treated at Cameron Regional Hospital.

At about 3:00 pm in Carroll County, a two-vehicle accident on US 24 near DeWitt left one driver with minor injuries.  The report states 72-year-old Gail Alexander of Brunswick was eastbound and struck a westbound vehicle driven by 67-year-old Carol Yung of Brunswick, head-on.  Yung was taken to Carrollton Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

A single-vehicle accident at about 3:00 pm on US 36 near Bucklin left the driver with minor injuries.  Fifty-two-year-old Dena Shiflett of Brookfield was westbound on US 36 and ran off the road and her pick-up overturned.  She was taken to Pershing Memorial Hospital for treatment.
