Two 14 Year Old Polo Boys Died In A Caldwell County Accident

A single-vehicle accident in Caldwell County took the lives of two 14-year-old Polo boys and left a third 14-year-old boy with serious injuries.  Two others had moderate injuries.  State Troopers have not released the names of the juveniles involved in the accident that happened at 7:18 pm on SW Price Drive, south of Polo.

According to the report, 18-year-old Harley Sammons of Plattsburg was eastbound when his car skidded on the gravel road and went off the left side of the roadway, hit an embankment and went airborne.  The vehicle went through a fence and overturned twice before coming to rest on its top.

Sammons and his passengers were not wearing safety belts.  The 14-year-old with serious injuries was flown to Children’s Mercy Hospital.  A 20-year-old passenger, Seth Pate of Polo, had moderate injuries and was taken to North Kansas City Hospital, while Sammons was taken to Liberty Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
