Bridge Replacement Projects Update

Bridge replacement projects in Chariton County are still a couple of months from completion and there are two bridges in the area counties that remain closed.
In Chariton County, on US 24, the Missouri Department of Transportation is getting closer to completing the work on the Mussel Fork River and Middle Fork Chariton River bridges.
The Bridge replacement project at the Mussel Fork River and Overflow Bridges west of Keytesville runs through this spring. Traffic is currently diverted over a one-lane, signalized bypass during the replacement.
The Middle Fork Chariton River and Overflow bridges are expected to be completed by late March. Traffic is also directed through the work zone with temporary traffic signals. A 10-foot width restriction is in place.
Two bridges in the area counties are closed.
A Missouri Department of Transportation Spokesperson says, in Carroll County Route C is closes until further notice at the Branch of Turkey Creek Bridge due to damage from flooding.
In Sullivan County, Route PP is closed until further notice at the East Medicine Creek Bridge after a regularly scheduled inspection revealed critical deterioration to the structure. This bridge project was part of the January 2020 bid letting and a nearly $1.4 million dollar contract was awarded. Work can start as early as this March and must be completed by the end of 2020.
