CWD Testing Complete For 2019/20 Deer Season

Chronic Wasting Disease or CWD testing for the 2019/20 Missouri Deer season is complete and the Missouri Department of Conservation says there were 46 new cases of CWD.  Since the state began testing in 2012, there have been 162 positive cases of CWD out of 137,000 tests.

Of the 46 new positive cases of CWD, eight are in the area counties and ALL EIGHT are in Linn County.

CWD is a deadly disease in white-tailed deer and other members of the deer family. The purpose of MDC’s CWD sampling and testing efforts is to find cases early so the Department can limit the spread of the disease by implementing management actions such as targeted culling.
