When mowing your lawn, don’t blow the grass clippings into the street! The City of Chillicothe reminds the community about the importance of keeping the clippings out of the city streets.
The City recommends that when you mow, you not spray the clippings into the street and if you do, you make an effort to clean them up.
The grass clippings can cause several problems. They do not look good in the street, they can be a safety hazard for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists, and when it rains, they can clog storm drain grates – resulting in flooding and damage to city and personnel property.
The City of Chillicothe does have an ordinance that requires the mowing of yards and prohibits the clippings from entering the street. Property owners can be cited and fined for violations.
