Monreal Charged With Alleged First Degree Murder

The man arrested in Southern Livingston county earlier this week after a chase through part of Carroll County has been charged with alleged 1st-degree murder.  The Livingston County Sheriff, Steve Cox, says Jesse Moses Monreal has been charged in Johnson County, Kansas with 1st-degree Murder and Attempted Robbery from crimes on or about May 5th.

Monreal remains in custody at the Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail with no bond allowed on a charge of alleged receiving stolen property.  He is also held on a warrant as an out of state fugitive.  The Sheriff’s web page shows bond is set at $1,000,000.

The two men who were with Monreal in the alleged vehicle theft in Lafayette County and fled into Livingston County remain at large but are not suspected of being in our area after a truck from the rock quarry was stolen in Blue Mound.  Cox says those two men were reportedly not involved in the Kansas homicide.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department continues to work with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshall Office on the two stolen vehicle cases.
