COVID-19 Numbers Jump At Chillicothe Correction Center

The number of prisoners at the Chillicothe Correction Center testing positive for COVID-19 took a big jump this week.  The Missouri Department of Corrections says there are now 29 active cases for the Chillicothe Correction Center.  That number includes five staff and twenty-four offenders.

The Department of Corrections says Offenders who test positive are isolated until they test negative. Staff who test positive are sent home on leave and must test negative twice before returning to work. All staff who have close contact with a positive are sent home for two weeks of quarantine.

The corrections officers and food service people brought this into the prison. They cannot protect the inmates when the employees are not required to wear masks. They have endangered the inmates who have no protection from their keepers. State says they are following “protocol” which is not safe.
