MDC Buying Seed In Chillicothe In October

Area residents can make a little cash by collecting seeds from a variety of trees on their property.  The Missouri Department of Conservation collects seeds each year.  This year, the collection dates in Chillicothe include October 7th from 8:00 am to Noon, October 14th and 21st from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and October 28th from 8:00 am to Noon.

 

Seeds that will be purchased by the MDC include Burr Oak, Black Oak, Pin Oak, Northern Red Oak, Swamp Oak, Chinkapin Oak, Shelk Barkk Hickory, Mixed Hickory, Hazelnut, Butternut, Ohio Buckeye, Grey Dogwood, Roughleaf Dogwood, Black Cherry, Black Chokeberry, Red Bud, Blackhaw, Eastern Red Cedar and Deciduous Holly.

 

Seeds should be free from dirt, rocks and sticks and can be brought to the MDC office in bags, buckets or boxes.  If you need more information, including pricing and identification tips, call the Chillicothe MDC office at 646-6122.
