The Chillicothe Boys Soccer team expanded their current winning streak to five innings thanks to a 2-1 home win over St Joseph Lafayette.
The Irish scored first on an unassisted goal in the 25th minute for the only score of the first half.
Chillicothe Junior Drake Cosgrove scored twice in the second half while the Hornets defense kept Lafayette in check. Cosgrove scored off a corner kick in the 53rd minute, and scored again eight minutes later off a Mason Baxter assist for the winning goal. Chillicothe Keeper Jaxon Albertson recorded one save.
Coach Tim Cunningham called it a fantastic second half, after a frustrating first half.
Cunningham said “The guys showed a lot of character and determination in the second half.”
The Hornets Soccer team is now 6-3 on the season. They play at Benton on Thursday.
The Junior Varsity Hornets beat Lafayette JV 3 to 1 with Aiden Zimmerman scoring twice and Jacob Adams once in the JV game.
