Hornets Notch Football Win

The Chillicothe Hornets football team had a strong first half and picked up their first win of the season in a 33-14 win over Kansas City East.
Chillicothe controlled most of the game, except for the final minute when East scored twice in the final 35 seconds.
The Hornets scored in the first quarter on a Damarcus Kelow two-yard run, then early in the second quarter on another two-yard run.
A Dan Hoel one-yard run made the score 21-0 at the half.
Chillicothe’s Tucker Wagers scored in the third on a four-yard run and Gage Leamer finished the Chillicothe scoring in the fourth quarter on a 9-yard run for a 33-0 score.
Kansas City East scored on a late drive. Chillicothe mishandled the ensuing kick-off and fumbled the ball to East, who scored on a pass play with seven seconds left in the game for the final score.
With the win, Chillicothe is in fourth place in the District standings and will play at Benton on Friday.
The win also means two long-running streaks continue. It has now been 102 years since the Chillicothe Hornets Football team lost every game in a season, and it has been 71 years since Chillicothe went with out a win in a season. (only losses and ties).
