The Chillicothe Hornets advanced to the Cameron Boys Tournament consolation game with a special win over Kansas City Northeast. The 54-47 Hornets win was Coach Tim Cool’s 500th career win as a Head Coach.
Cool started his coaching career as the Head Coach for the Dora girls team, then coaches Newtown-Harris girls and boys before coming to Chillicothe as the Hornets coach in the 2011-12 season.
Against KC Northeast, Chillicothe jumped out to an early lead and held on for the win.
Chillicothe was led by freshman James Mathew with 16 points, Griff Bonderer with 12. Wyatt Brandsgaard and Mason Baxter with eight points each, Hayden Simmer with six, Cayden Potter with four and playing time for Kyle Young, Landon Winder and Jackson Trout.
Chillicothe boys will play Saturday at 11:30am against the winner of tonight’s Cameron vs Lawson game.
