The Marshall Owls disposed of a 21-game losing skid in a 16-0 win over Hornets Football at Chillicothe.
The teams played to a scoreless first half with both teams missing prime scoring chances.
Marshall scored in the third quarter with a Ben Haug 1 yard run. The Extra Point was good for a 7-0 Marshall lead with 8:37 left in the third quarter.
A sack of the Chillicothe quarterback in the end zone with the football lost out of bounds four minutes later made it a 9-0 game.
Haug scored again with 8:27 left in the fourth quarter for a 16-0 Marshall win.
Chillicothe’s defense looked sharp at times in the game. Colton Sewell had a 3rd quarter interception, Lavery Jones with a 3rd quarter fumble recovery, and several sacks by Chillicothe including Isaac Washburn with four sacks unofficially.
Chillicothe heads to Kirksville next Friday. The Kirksville tigers lost at Macon 34-27
