Chillicothe’s New Ambulance Arrives

The new ambulance for the Chillicothe Fire Department arrived Tuesday.  Fire Chief Darrell Wright says the Livingston county Ambulance District supplies the ambulances for the city.  This new ambulance cost just under $104,500.  Chief Wright says the new unit is a Sprinter Style Ambulance to use primarily for transports to the Kansas City Area.

Wright says the Sprinter Style ambulances are very economical to operate.

He says that savings over the past few years has actually allowed them to ad three new staff members at the department.

Wright says the Sprinter Style units are also cheaper to purchase.

The ambulances with the bigger boxes are better to use when responding to the local emergency situations, because it gives the medics more room to work on the patient during the transport to the hospital.

The new ambulance will be put in service later this week, after the radios are transferred from the old unit.
