State Troopers Report Three Accidents And One Arrest For The Area

State Troopers responded to three accidents in the area counties Thursday morning.

A single vehicle accident at 7:15 am in Sullivan County, left the driver with minor injuries.  Thirty-four year old Joni Ussary of St Joseph was taken to Sullivan County Hospital following the accident that happened when she slid off the road and struck a tree and a fence.  She was wearing a safety belt.

A two vehicle accident in Sullivan County at about 8:45 am left both drivers with minor injuries.  The accident on Missouri Highway 5 happened shen23 year old Samantha Pownas of Milan was westbound and slid through a stop sign and hit a vehicle driven 65 year old Leroy Tye of Linneus, who was northbound.  Tye’s vehicle went off the road and overturned.  He had minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene.  Powgnas also had minor injuries and was treated at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital.  They were both wearing safety belts at the time of the accident.

A single vehicle accident in Pettis County at about 10:00 am left the driver and passenger with minor injuries.  Forty-four year old Mary Sawyer and her passenger, 20 year old Breanna Sawyer, both of Galt, were treated at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.  The report states Mary Sawyer was southbound on US 65 and lost control on the ice covered road, went off the road and hit a culvert.  They were wearing safety belts.

A Carrollton man was arrested by State Troopers in Carroll County Thursday night.  At about 10:05 pm, Troopers arrested 35 year old Edward Arnold of Carrollton for alleged tampering with a vehicle, DWI, driving while suspended, careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident and leaving the scene of an accident.  Arnold was processed and turned over to Carroll County Deputies.
