Trenton Officer Dragged When Suspect Flees Traffic Stop

A Trenton police officer was dragged when a vehicle he had stopped Saturday morning sped from the scene.  Sergeant Matt Preston of the Trenton Police Department made a vehicle stop in the 900 block of Olive in Trenton at about 6:50 am.

The driver of the vehicle was identified and found to have a warrant for his arrest.  That person fled the traffic stop in his vehicle, dragging Sgt. Preston down the street.

The male driver and his female passenger were located and arrested later in the day by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Both are held at the Grundy County Detention Center pending the filing of charges.

Sgt. Preston was treated at Wright Memorial Hospital and released to return to full duty.
