Sheriff’s Report Includes One Arrest

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department is investigating theft from an elderly person that happened around Christmas time.  Sheriff Steve cox says on January 4th they learned of the theft of gift cards from an elderly victim. The investigation shows a woman working for the State of Missouri, who was employed to assist the elderly victim, had been in the victim’s home on or about December 21st, at which time the gift cards disappeared.  Cox says further investigation shows video of the alleged suspect using the same gift card(s) at a local business in Chillicothe.

The suspect has refused to speak with deputies.  The employer has taken administrative action and the department is seeking formal charges.

Deputies are investigating two incidents where cattle in northwest Livingston County are not being fed.  Information was sent to the prosecuting attorney for consideration of charges.

On January 15th, a single vehicle accident on LIV 230 resulted in the arrest of the driver for alleged DWI.

Deputies also reported the arrest of 46 year old John Douglass Churan of Hale.  The report states Churan surrendered on a warrant for alleged DWI-persistent offender. He posted bond on the Livingston County warrant. And on two Carroll County warrants for alleged Failure to Appear on traffic violations.
