Hornets Basketball Rallies to Beat Benton

The Benton Cardinals felt the full effect of Chillicothe’s Twin Turbos in an MEC Boys Basketball game Friday night in Benton. In what may be a first in Chillicothe History, Juniors Westley Brandsgaard and C J Pfaff accounted for all of Chillicothe’s points in a 39-32 win.
Chillicothe trailed most of the first half but took the lead for good late in the third quarter.
Benton closed the gap to one point in the fourth but Brandsgaard hit two free throws and C J Pfaff hit four in the final 11 seconds for a 6-0 run that secured the win for Chillicothe.
Hornets Coach Tim Cool said everyone contributed to the win.

Brandsgaard led Chillicothe with 24 points and C J Pfaff had 15 points. Also seeing playing time were Bradley Riley, William Perry, Hunter Swift and Matt Anthony. Due to a variety of reasons, Chillicothe had just 8 players dressed out for varsity.
Chillicothe travels to Camdenton to take on the Lakers in a varsity only contest. The Junior Varsity game has been cancelled.

Benton swept the two under card games, despite a good night for Freshman Demarcus Kelow.
Benton won the Junior Varsity game 59-37. Kelow had 12 points, Dalton Ripley and Hunter Rader each had four points. Carter Allen, Landon Swift and Tucker Burtch each had two points and Cameron  Fleener had a free throw.
The Benton Freshmen also beat Chillicothe 34-18 and again, Kelow led the Hornets with 11 of the team’s 18 points. Chace Corbin had three points and Quentin Cranmer and Seth Hansen each had two points.
