Great Northwest Days A Success

Great Northwest Day at the Capitol 2019 drew more than 250 Northwest Missouri residents to the state capitol to showcase the region in Jefferson City on early this week.  Nineteen counties, multiple communities and representatives from business, education, healthcare and government came together to discuss issues that are critical to the region.  This year’s priorities focused on caring for our youngest citizens, aligning to educate and advance workforce, rural high-speed broadband access and affordability, safer roads and bridges, and wind energy and water projects.

The group had an opportunity to meet with the Lieutenant Governor and were introduced on the floor of both chambers and met with various senators and representatives to discuss issues.

The evening Luau event, designed to educate attendees about northwest Missouri, consisted of a regional expo that showcased the communities and counties. Chillicothe and Livingston County was showcased as “Missouri’s Slice of Paradise” with a focus on the significance of being the Home of Sliced Bread.

Great Northwest Day concluded Wednesday morning with a breakfast and presentation from Director of Agriculture, Chris Chinn.
