The Trenton Lady Bulldogs improved to 24-0 in a 46-25 win over Chillicothe. With the victory, Trenton earned the District championship and moves to Sectional play next week.
The Lady Hornets started off cold with their only first quarter points coming from two free throws. They trailed 27-10 at half and 39-14 after three quarters.
Coach Darren Smith said Trenton’s defense was too much for his team.
Hunter Keithley had eight points in the game, Jordan Hibner with six, Kennedie Kieffer was held to just four points in a very physical defensive effort by Trenton. Laney Gaston and Kiley Kirkpatrick each had two points and Essie Hicks had one point. Seven other Lady Hornets played but did not score.
Trenton was led by three players in double figures. Trenton will play in sectionals next week at Moberly Area Community College. Their opponent will be the winner of Palmyra vs Monroe City which will be played Saturday (today) at 1:30pm.
