Chillicothe Working To Find A Solution To Bus Route Problems

Chillicothe R-II School Bus routes currently has some students that are dropped at school early and others that may arrive a little late and after school, there may be students waiting to be picked up from school for a considerable period, requiring a teacher or aid to keep an eye on the children well after the normal school hours.

Assistant Superintendent Dr Zack McMains has been working with a parent advisory committee and says they have worked out what they hope will be a solution, but it will not go into effect until the next school year.  McMains says this will involve staggering the beginning and end of the school days.

McMains says that will require adding to the bus fleet.

In addition to cutting routes several years ago, the district also lost 8 buses a couple of years ago due to a fire at the bus barn.  As McMains said, the transportation funding is a big part of the solution.
