Sheriff’s Office Recent Incident Reports

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department handled three recent incidents involving children.

Monday, the School Resource Officer filed a report of a parent not requiring her child to attend school regularly as the student has a 66% attendance rate. A report was sent to the prosecuting attorney to consider charges on the parent.

Wednesday, deputies responded to Chula where a young child was found wandering around town that morning in cold weather, quite some distance from their home.  As the deputy was speaking with the child, the parent called to report the child missing. A report was sent to the juvenile office and a report will be sent to the prosecuting attorney for review.

Sheriff Steve Cox says they have also completed a lengthy child abuse investigation.  Cox says the young child is now at a different parent’s home.  During the investigation, deputies seized suspected evidence from the home. A report will be submitted to prosecuting attorney for consideration of charges on the step-parent for alleged child abuse.
