The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department handled three recent incidents involving children.
Monday, the School Resource Officer filed a report of a parent not requiring her child to attend school regularly as the student has a 66% attendance rate. A report was sent to the prosecuting attorney to consider charges on the parent.
Wednesday, deputies responded to Chula where a young child was found wandering around town that morning in cold weather, quite some distance from their home. Â As the deputy was speaking with the child, the parent called to report the child missing. A report was sent to the juvenile office and a report will be sent to the prosecuting attorney for review.
Sheriff Steve Cox says they have also completed a lengthy child abuse investigation.  Cox says the young child is now at a different parent’s home.  During the investigation, deputies seized suspected evidence from the home. A report will be submitted to prosecuting attorney for consideration of charges on the step-parent for alleged child abuse.
