It took double overtime and a free kick to decide a winner in the Chillicothe Girls Soccer match at Kirksville.
After a scoreless regulation and first overtime, the Chillicothe Lady Hornets picked up a hard fought 1-0 road win.
The Lady Hornets’ Sarah Graves 30 yard free kick with 40 seconds left in the second overtime gave Chillicothe the victory.
Chillicothe was active in the game. They out shot Kirksville 20-1 on the night.
Coach Shannon Grable said with a suffocating defensive effort and a relentless attack the Lady Hornets never lost faith in each other.
With the 1-0 win, Chillicothe girls soccer is now 1-1 on the season. They host Moberly on Thursday.
The Chillicothe Junior Varsity also picked up a 1-0 win at Kirksville. Ellie Barnett scored the only goal.
Coach Grable called it another solid effort by the defenders and goalkeeper. The JV is now 2-0 with two shut out victories.
