Missouri’s Morel Hunting Begins Soon!

It’s April, the snow is gone, we’ve had plenty of moisture and it is starting to warm-up.  It must be almost time for mushroom hunting.  Veteran mushroom hunters are watching the soil temperatures and the reports of others on social media.  It won’t be long and they will be out at their favorite spot.  Lucas Bond with the Missouri Department of Conservation says Morels are treasured for their flavor and for the fun of the hunt.

John George, also from the MDC, explains where Morels may be found.

If you have never been out hunting for Morels or other edible mushrooms, make sure you know how to identify both edible and poisonous mushrooms.  The Missouri Department of Conservation has a Guide to Edible and Poisonous Mushrooms that can be found at your local conservation office.
