The Operating Levy for the Chillicothe R-II School District was discussed at Tuesday’s meeting. The Levy Ballot question on the April Second election failed 751 yes to 1328 no. Superintendent Dr. Roger Barnes says this is an issue that will not go away and there are only a couple ways to fix it.
Barnes says the board knows they will have to make a decision on the next time it is put before the voters. A special meeting will be held on May 9th to take care of the diplomas for Graduation and handle other business, including discussions on the levy.
Bill Hayen told the board many people he has talked with don’t want to pay more taxes. He asked if their expenses are the same as they had been for several years. The answer was always NO, but those people still didn’t want to pay more.
